Shelley from Divine Party Concepts describes the party, "Every year for my girls’ birthdays, I set out a special birthday book for everyone to sign. They can leave a birthday note or a special memory from the past year. I then write a special note to them recapping all the special events and milestones they had that year. I am saving all of the books to give them when they are older. I also had a ballet frame with her 1st dance recital picture and her ballet shoes set out on the table. You can also see the invitation that I made for her. It was designed as a ticket for a show."

Don't you love this? Tutu's tied to the back of the chairs. Shelley made tutus for all the guests to wear at the party!

Nothing like "pink chocolate" covered strawberries. Great ideas from Divine Party Concepts.

Colorful Creative Playroom!

Bright green walls - fabulous for a playroom! Jenni McEntaffer kids playroom is vibrant and colorful. What I love most? The personalized hand print art done by her kids! Kids love to play in/with paint and what better way to display cool artwork but with their own hand prints! The walls paint colors - Lime green (Olympic semi-gloss from Lowes)
Blue bayou (Olympic semi-gloss from Lowes)
Velvet lining (Colorplace semi-gloss from Walmart)-this was the deep purple accent color

kids playroom ideasJenni explains the process, "When we moved into our house a year ago we created a playroom in the basement. It had white walls, beige carpet and led into our family room. It was boring. Then we added the toys which helped add color but the toys lined the entire room, looking unorganized and messy. We added two shelving units which helped store toys in bins, out of sight. As we approached our 1 year anniversary since moving into our home I got to work creating a fun, bright playroom. Because I have a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old son, I chose bright green and blue with a dark purple accent color. I painted wood star hooks and tied them together with cording to hang my kid's artwork. I created a reading corner with a shag rug, basket of books and pillow. I painted chalk board paint on a large area so the kids can draw and that becomes part of the design (and changes with each new picture). Probably the easiest new feature was the dress up curtain. My daughter has many princess dresses and my son is starting to collect his own dress up wardrobe of fireman suits, wizard hats, etc. I wanted one, organized location to hang them instead of stuffing them into a bin. I painted and hung 6 star/flower hangars to display the dress up clothes and added a fun curtain to close off the dress up area. When my daughter wants to dress up she goes behind the curtain, changes and then I make an announcement to anyone willing to hear...that the princess is coming. Both kids love being behind the curtain! I didn't expect the dress up area to be so successful but it was the best part of the new playroom. I also wanted to display pictures of my kids playing and having a blast so I chose funny pictures of them playing guitar hero, dressing up, making silly faces, etc. My favorite picture was when I went down a slide before the kids and took the picture as we all came down the slide, the smile on both their faces is huge which makes me relive that moment of pure happiness. I opted to blow up that picture to a 18 x 24 size and painted some circle design around it, bringing even more attention to it."

Jenni you really thought out the playroom with creative details. Thanks for sharing!

Red & White Charming Girls Room!

The UK has some talented gals and Sam from The Nest is one of them! She decorated her daughters room in red and white - it's completely charming. An ugly, brown smoking chair is what this fresh, fab checkered chair use to be. Sam spent some time reupholstering the chair that was given to her. I want, I need this chair for me... it's so ADORABLE!

Charming and so timeless!

Sam describes the room, "When Lily was born her bedroom was half the size it is now and could only fit a cot, chair and her armoire - we have much smaller houses in the UK than our American cousins unfortunately. Oh what I could do with more space! I am a fan of closets and built in wardrobes. Unfortunately Lily's room was too small for a built in so I bought the Laura Ashley armoire (when it was on sale and as it was very late in arriving they gave me more money off so it ended up being quite a bargain). I knew that we could initially used it for her clothes storage and then when we got round to having our house extended it could be used for toys and games. It came with shelves but we took one shelf out and hung a rail off another. I attached fabric to the inside of the chicken wire doors to hide the mess. It looked adorable with her pretty little dresses hanging in such a teeny space. When we extended her room stayed the same width but doubled in length. We had a closet built and the armoire became a game cupboard. Her doll house sits on an old victorian kitchen table which was cut down to make a small coffee table. I plan on painting this to blend in with her room more....one day!"

"I made most of the pictures on her wall. My favourite one is a piece of a tea towel I bought in a gorgeous shop in Biarritz in the South of France. It is a typical basque heart design embroidered in a deep red. I cut this bit out and mounted it then painted a cheap plain frame in a similar shade of red which I had to mix myself until I got the right shade."

I also need these polka dot suitcases. Thank you Sam! You're quite the talent: )

Timeless Classic Baby Nursery

nursery for twinsIsn't this nursery adorable? Sophisticated, classic and timeless are words I would use to describe the nursery. My cousin Renee designed this room for her sweet little twin daughters. Designing a nursery for twins is a tad harder than designing for one baby. I love the toile wallpaper and pink and green colors of the room. Placing the changing table/dresser between the cribs and in front of the window is such a perfect spot.

classic timeless baby nurseryI'm loving the darling baby photos hung over each crib.
