Sweet Elegance Baby Nursery

Look closely at this sweet nursery - see the argyle pattern on the back wall? It's designed with ribbon! This room is the winner of the 2009 Bellies and Babies Chic Nursery Design Contest - designed by Danielle Myers of Elle Designs.

Danielle describes the nursery and the process for adding the ribbon, "Sweet Elegance, is the statement this nursery makes upon entering. With warm cream tone, offset by a butterscotch color this room is for the chicest little girl imaginable. We used cream furniture with and heirloom metal crib, accompanied by cream bedding. Our crib flanked a back drop wall that was inexpensively designed with ribbon and rhinestones to create an argyle pattern. Complete with a chandelier and wall sconces no detail was left out. As for the argyle pattern, we first laid out a square grid to ensure the diamonds would all be proportional and level. Then we started in one 45 degree angle and used 2-way tape to adhere the ribbon to the wall, once one direction was complete we came back the other direction. As we came across we wove the ribbon under and over to create a weaved effect. When all of the ribbon was complete we pinned it to the wall at the points of the diamonds. Finally for an extra sparkle, we glued rhinestones on each point of the pattern for a complete chic design. I would recommend 2 people doing the ribbon pattern, I could not have done it without my husband."
