Mermaid Party Ideas

Here's a sampling of a few mermaid party ideas. First up is Shara Bachman's little mermaid party for her two year old. Isn't the mermaid sign adorable??

Pretty colors and name banner. The cake is simple but very cute!

 Handmade sand castle. So pretty!

Fabulous idea...Sebastian's Sand Search. More terrific party ideas found on her Bachmanville blog.

Another mermaid party this time with blues and pinks. The Workman Family blogs shares some really great ideas and pretty details.

Sweet Craft Cakes shares an under the sea mermaid party. The party looks like it is under the sea. Stunning!

Such pretty greens, blues and purple candies.

Gender Neutral Bird-Inspired Nursery

Here's a special baby nursery that is just right for a baby boy or baby girl! A bird-inspired nursery with bright colors of orange and teal make this a fun gender neutral modern baby room. Wall paint is Eddie Bauer Java at Lowes.

First time mom Taryn says, "There are a variety of ways to design a gender neutral nursery and birds are one theme that fits perfectly! I designed the room to be gender neutral because we didn't know what we were having until the big day! I chose a bird inspired theme and wanted to keep the style of the room on the more modern/contemporary side. I went with dark gray walls and pops of orange and teal.  I made all of the artwork in the room including the canvas wall art and the bird mobile. I love how the room turned out! It's inviting, completely one of a kind and something my daughter can grow with.

Meet my DIY bird mobile.  I handmade each of the birds using fabric I had in my collection along with a few new swatches I picked up at the local fabric store. After the birds were done, I attached them to a wreath I spray painted white.

The rocking chair was my big splurge for the nursery. Pottery Barn makes such comfy chairs, I couldn’t resist! We chose the rocker over the glider because this one came with chair legs, so down the road we can use the chair in different room. Brilliant idea PB!"

Birch branches with lights makes a great night light.

Ladybug Themed Birthday Party with FREE Printables!

Hi everyone! My name is Erin and I'm the DIY wannabe behind How to Nest for Less!

I'm excited to be back again blogging with Toni at Design Dazzle! Hope you guys enjoy my latest project... a Ladybug Themed Birthday Party with FREE printables!

For this 1st birthday party, I created some food table cards, cupcake liners, a birthday garland and water bottle labels for some extra pizzazz around the room. Let's get this party started!

The water bottle labels should be printed on a glossy white paper so the condensation from the cold water doesn't quickly dissolve the paper label. Five labels are printed on one sheet of 8.5x11 inch paper. You can also add a little personal message to the top and bottom of the label!

I actually printed my cupcake liners on scrapbook paper using my Silhouette Cameo, but if you don't have that resource, you can use this printable and trim by hand!

I love the idea of table cards for the various foods you serve at your party, especially if you have guests with allergies. The printable leaves the center blank so you can customize to your menu!

And finally we have a cute little birthday garland for the cute little ladybug! Just print out the number of blank circles you need for the letters and you can use the ladybugs circles as spacers. Or use this printable as a pattern for scrapbook paper! I simply glue the lettered circles on the scalloped circles.

Then I used a hole punch to create two holes in each piece and strung them along with red ribbon. Super simple project!

Well, that's it for today! I hope everyone enjoys the ladybug birthday party printables! And I hope you can come visit me soon at my blog, How to Nest for Less!

Toni, thanks so much for inviting me to Design Dazzle for the day!
Much ♥ to everyone, Erin
