Classic Dinosaur Room!

The question was: How to combine dinosaurs, stripes, plaid, and family photos? This room is for a 4 year old boy who loves dinosaurs but his mother did not want a "dinosaur" room only. She wanted something that could grow with him and change as his interest changes. Gretchen Sturman is a designer and the mom of the little boy who loves dinosaurs. Check out Gretchen's site Interiors By Mad City

Mod Monkey Party

It's a mod monkey party - bright yellow and turquoise blues create a perfect cheerful monkey party. Top Party Ideas featured this Mod monkey party.

Jennifer Kielp of Nounces Designs designed this fun mod "little monkey" party. Such a perfect party for a one year old and older!

Darling monkey invites can be purchased here.

Jennifer said, "For the food, we had blue and yellow bread made by our local bakery. We used a round cookie cutter to cut the bread into circles. I wasn’t kidding when I said I went with the polka dot theme! All of the food was round. I don’t know if anyone noticed, but it was fun trying to come up with food ideas that fit!"

Star Wars Theme Birthday Party Ideas!

Star Wars cake from here.

star wars party ideasAfter earning their very own light sabers, the Jedi-in-training learned defense maneuvers and techniques for battling the Empire from the Master and became certified Jedi Knights. Dawn Ey from MerryB Events created this Jedi Knights and Star Wars birthday bash!

Dawn describes how she made R2D2, "I was doing some research for Hill’s upcoming Star Wars birthday party this week and I ran across an everyday waste basket on clearance that possessed a striking resemblance to R2D2. Naturally, I brought him home and commenced the conversion process. Using hot glue, spray paint that adheres to plastic, duct tape in three colors (blue, silver and white), and random household objects I transformed this plastic cast-off into a key Star Wars character.

My R2’s head may not rotate or transmit galactic images of Princess Leia in danger, but this little friend will serve as a great prop for Hill’s special celebration!"

I have to say this is clever, clever!

Make your own r2d2 craft project!

Dawn said, "A Storm Trooper cake was ceremoniously defeated to celebrate the rebel victory".

Yoda Sodas – Mix Lime Sherbet with Sprite - kids love it!

More Star War party ideas....

Official Jedi Robe: Each child was awarded a Jedi robe when they entered the rebel ship (house). This fun Star Wars party created by Marie was featured on Makes and Takes. How to make a Jedi Robe - instructions found here.

Pin the Lightsaber on a Jedi – This $5 poster was purchased at a party store and taped to the wall. Little mini paper lightsabers were made for each child. They pick the color and then match it to who it might go to, while wearing a Clone Wars Storm Trooper mask (found at a party store).

An invitation from Tips From A Mom of 3....

Tips From A Mom of 3 describes the invitation, "We made the invites by using a computer program & copy machine. They turned out pretty good! The words were as follows:
In a Galaxy Far, Far away... A boy of destiny was born. The Jedi council named him (child's name) and they knew that he was the chosen one. In the (Child's age) that has followed his birth, he has been learning the powers of the force. Recently though, the Jedi knights have called upon young Padawan (child's name) to seek out Future Jedi. Please come to (child's name) Birthday Party! Your presence is requested on (Date) The trials will begin promptly at (time) at (place) Please Advise the Jedi council asap at (phone number) as to whether you will be accepting the challenge of the trials. May The Force Be With you!" Check out her site for some fabulous ideas for a Star Wars party.

Yellow, Aqua & Red Baby Nursery!

Caroline Armelle's blog Armelle has some fun creative ideas including this sweet, eclectic nursery for her little baby girl.
My favorite item is the $5 crib picked up at a yard sale. Caroline spent hours priming and spraying yellow paint (13 cans), she also gave it 2 top coats. Tons of work - but she loves the results. This terrific nursery was done on a budget with several items re-purposed. Way to go!

The wall color is Benjamin Moore's Robin's Nest (color 618)

Adding to the room decor is Caroline's little girl's blessing dress.

Chinese Themed Birthday Party

Autumn Clemons created this adorable unique party for her daughters 8th birthday by paying homage to Asia. Autumn describes the party, "I threw a Chinese-themed birthday party for my eight year old daughter. Colors were fuschia, black, gold and chartreuse. Chinese lanterns were hung in a large cluster over the table. Candy-dipped fortune cookies, rice-krispy sushi and a simple adorned cake were some of the party yummies. Gifts bags were asian brocade purses with bamboo handles filled with goodies. A homemade pinata in the shape of a chinese-take out box was filled with candy and fortune cookies." Check out Autumn's blog My Design Dump for more photos and inspiration Said Autumn, "I used an online translator for the Chinese characters, so I'm hoping it really does say "yummy" and not something crazy like "i like to swim in garbage"

fortune cookies dipped in candy melts with sprinkles.
Water bottle labels - It's great to be 8!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this - rice krispy "sushi". Sushi made from rice krispy treats, colored licorice and fruit roll-ups.

Brocade purses used as goodie bags -purchased from Target long ago....

Check out this invitation - it's over-the-top fabulous!

Here's the link for instructions to make the invitation!
The yummy food, beautiful decorations, bright colors make this an irresistible birthday party. Thank you Autumn, for sharing your wonderful birthday party with us.
