And The Oscar Goes To....

Hollywood Teen Girl Birthday...a Hollywood birthday party for teens and tweens. LIGHTS, CAMERA, FASHION, PARTY!! Both my daughters had Hollywood themed parties for their 13th birthdays. I've included pictures of both events. The table decor is the same - just different pink table covers. Here's a list of items used for the table decor:
Hollywood film reels
Empty film reel canisters
Oscar statue
Clapboards
Glitter microphones
Small disco ball
Feather boas
15" Gold foil star cutouts
movie film
confetti

teen girl Hollywood birthday ideasHOLLYWOOD sign made out of plywood.

Instructions: Find the Hollywood font online (it's not too hard to upload to your computer) and print out "HOLLYWOOD". Enlarge the letters at a copy shop, trace the letters on 1/4 inch plywood (letters are approx. 2 feet tall). Cutout the letters and paint white. Plastic rods were found in the garden shop at Home Depot and screwed onto the back, this made it easy to place in the ground. I placed two "garage work shop" lights in front of the sign on the ground. As you know, the HOLLYWOOD sign is always lit brightly. Makes for a darling group shot....

Glitter microphones placed in a vase...simple but cute decor.

I should have used the darker pink - it looks better than the light pink as you can see in the photos at top.

Foil cut out stars were used as place mats.

Make your own clapboard invitation with a real clapboard! Instructions here.

Activities:
It's time for the walk down the red carpet! Purchase red fabric (cheap at Walmart) or a red table cover on a roll. The perfect to place for the red carpet is on the path leading up to your home. I've included fill-in-the- blank questions "Red Carpet Walk" form (below) to ask each guest. Call your guests ahead of time and ask the questions (trust me on this). This form should be used to announce each "diva" or "movie star" as she arrives on the red carpet. This would be a good time to pass out sunglasses (purchase at the $ store). Make sure to have some paparazzi around (moms with cameras are perfect). Have someone assigned to be the designated photographer to take photos and say things like...strike a pose, say movie star, say glamour girl, etc...

Hollywood Walk of Fame stars. The craft activity is good to use first since it is considered a gathering activity (while waiting for everyone to arrive). Use the stickers provided to add names to the Walk of Fame star. Explain to the guests about the real walk of Fame in Hollywood and how famous movie stars, etc. have their own star!

Oscar statues were handed out to each guest as a favor to take home. The girls loved these. The guests voted for different Oscar categories. Here are a few ideas for some of the categories -
Drama Queen, Most Stylin' Fashion Statement, Dancing Diva, Superstar, Hip Girl, Sweet Princess, Most Hilarious, Best Leading Actress, Most Dramatic, Up and Coming Star, etc... Make up some of your own names. If you fill out the red carpet forms (shown above), you'll have the information you need to fill out the Oscar Awards. I've attached the form below.

It's also a good time to karaoke, have a glamour session (hair and make-up), dancing, etc. One of the biggest hits - is to FILM the party!! If you can film the red carpet arrival, Oscar presentation and all the activities, plan on showing the the film to the guests at the end of the party. The girls will love watching themselves!

My daughter Tayler at her 13th birthday party.

Glow sticks and dancing with each other - was a big hit!

My other daughter Jamie - who was 10 at the time.
