Kids' Storage and Organization Ideas - Part 2

I'm back with more storage and organization ideas! Storage is an essential element in kid's rooms.  It's perfect when it is both functional and stylish such as this dress up closet. Don't you like the idea of having all your kids dress-up clothes hung up in their own storage closet? This DIY project used to look like this...

I bet 99% of the population would walk right by this piece of junk. Rambling Renovators didn't think it was junk (truly beauty is in the eye of the beholder). Paint, wrapping paper (for the inside) and few other items and a little labor created a stylish and totally functional dress up closet. For complete details go to the Rambling Renovators blog.

Get creative with containers and storage

Have a red wagon? How about making a shelf out of one like The Painted Home did. Clever!

An unusual way to use a Radio Flyer Red Wagon (or something similar) is as a book shelf. Books store easily in this movable book shelf.

Something like this rustic wood wagon (remove the wood seat) would work well for storing books

Paint or stain a wooden wine box to create a unique storage look.

Wire wall planters make a cute wall display and storage options. This rustic rattan wall basket would also make great wall storage.

Vintage suitcases become creative storage under the bed.

square steamer trunk works well as a side table and a good place to store extra blankets and bedding.

Board games or card games transferred to small storage boxes makes for nice stack able piles in the closet. Idea and image from here.

Kids Metal Locker Storage Baskets

 Ice cream colored storage cubicles.

I realize this a pet food container, but look how sweet this would be in a childs room. You know the popcorn containers left over from Christmas or seen at your local thrift store, this is one of them - painted and labeled. Of course, for a kids room you would store something different then dog food. ; )

Here's another recycled popcorn container made into a waste basket. Each childs room needs a waste basket.

Lovely  mini suitcases can work wonders for organizing small items that aren't used on a daily basis.

Are you a coffee drinker? You might want to start collecting Folgers plastic containers. These containers have awesome picture labels added to create storage for small items. Heart of Wisdom shares this idea and also has free printables for coffee can labels
