Nursery: Designed On A Budget

Thanks to Leah from More Ways To Waste Time for allowing us to feature Guthrie's Nursery designed by Jana (mom). This nursery is all boy and designed on a budget. Colorful bands of stripes on the wall make a bold and fun statement. The green wall color is Benjamin Moore's Kiwi, and the bright blue color is Benjamin Moore's Watertown. For the stripes, Sherwin Williams' Jonquil, Benjamin Moore's Coyote Trail, and Watertown were used

The shelves are from IKEA - Lack wall shelf. The crib and changing table are from Walmart. Crib bedding purchased from Pottery Barn.

Per Jana, "The secret to doing stripes is using painter's tape, taping very well -- especially if your walls aren't perfectly smooth -- and glazing the edges of the tape with an acrylic polyurethane; we used Benjamin Moore's Stays Clear in low lustre to avoid any shine. Make sure you use enough so that it really seals the tape and prevents any color bleeding. Stripes are not fun to do, but they are fun to have!"

Jana purchased linen panels from IKEA and shortened them for a more casual look. She stenciled her sons initials on the curtain with fabric paint in different colors.
Objects found in thrift and antique stores.
