Ahoy Matey! -It's A Pirate Birthday Party

Looking for pirate party ideas for your young swashbuckler? Here are some fabulous ideas for a pirate themed event.  Michelle from Vintage Junky created this pirate pennant, x marks the spot (on the mailbox) and the "bedsheet" sails.

Sheets purchased from goodwill make perfect "sails" on top of the pergola.

One fabulous mom made these favor bags.  Polaroid photos were taken of each guest and then attached to their goodie bag.

Another idea from One Fabulous Mom a pirate "watermelon" ship. A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!

Kira from Tangarang created this too-fun treasure map. The coolest thing about this map - is she offers a printable blank map and also a printable sheet with items you might have in your yard so you can customize your own pirate treasure map.

Check out Kira's blog for a printable to iron-on pirate loot bags or t-shirts.

Great idea for a pirate photo op.

Rain gutter regatta is a perfect activity for a pirate party. I remember wanting to do this activity when I was a cub scout leader - we ended up doing pinewood derby instead. Here's how it works - boats are raced in a standard rain gutter that is ten feet long and filled to the top with water. The gutters are placed on saw horses. Boats are propelled by the kids blowing on the sail, either directly or through a drinking straw.
