How To Make A Teacup Chandelier

A teacup chandelier is a beautiful light fixture especially for a little girls tea party bedroom. A friend of mine has triplets (2 girls and one boy). She hired me to decorate a tea party room for both of her daughters (7 years old). I purchased 7 teacups and saucers at Marshall's for $3 each for the six-arm chandelier. An extra set was purchased just in case one broke while being drilled. The chandelier is from Lowe's. Supplies: Chandelier Teacups and saucers - one set for each chandelier arm ceramic or diamond drill bit for ceramic or porcelain teacups washers and bolts self-adhesive lamp shades diy instructions teacup chandelierLeft over fabric from the custom sewn duvet was used to cover the mini lampshades. Extremely easy to make but can be a little time consuming. To purchase self-adhesive lampshades, click here. diy teapot chandelier projectInstructions: The wiring was removed from the chandelier. I'm not sure if every fixture needs to have the wiring removed, but for this style of light fixture it was removed. Paint the chandelier if needed. The chandelier was spray painted with primer and for the last step I sprayed white spray paint on the silver light fixture. I also painted the washers and bolts. Place the electrical wiring back into light fixture. Using a ceramic or diamond drill bit, drill a hole through the center of the saucer and also the center of the teacup - one at a time. Use a towel to help soften the surface for drilling. One saucer broke while being drilled - make sure to have an extra set in case this happens. how to make a teacup chandelierPlace the saucers on the light fixture arm. I placed the saucer upside down so you can see the print of the saucer from below (instead of the bottom of the saucer). A washer and bolt held the saucer in place. If needed, add silicone adhesive to help hold in place. Place the teacup on top of the saucer and add the arm sleeve back to the fixture.

Screw light bulbs into the sockets and attach mini lamp shades (if wanted). Hire a professional electrician to verify all the electrical wiring is correct - they can also install the fixture for you. This is a fun one of a kind light fixture that was especially made for two awesome little girls:) This tea party room turned out so darling...I'll post photos of the room sometime!
