Yellow for Tween and Teen Boys Rooms

Today was 85 degrees and humid and for the first time this year, I wore open toe shoes and actually felt hot.  Unfortunately, tomorrow is supposed to be 60 and raining.  These fleeting spring days make me want to embrace bright, happy, warm colors as if to persuade spring to come and stay a while.  Yellow is such a fun and bright color that is the epitome of spring colors.  Yellow is fabulous! 



But yellow needs to be used carefully.  Too much yellow can be overstimulating and harsh.  However, when used correctly, it can be an optimistic color which can promote creativity and enlightenment.  Yellow can help activate the memory, provide mental stimulation, encourage happiness, energy and creativity!



Traditionally, yellow has been seen in girl's rooms.  However, yellow is becoming popular in boys rooms too!  Yes.  You can use yellow in boys and girls rooms!

I love how pairing yellow with neutral, dark colors creates a wonderfully bright, yet masculine space for a teenage boy.

Purple in Tween and Teen Bedrooms

Even though Honeysuckle and Turquoise are extremely popular colors right now, I am still drawn to purple for a tween or teen rooms.  Purple is not as "girlie" as pink yet it still enables you to hold onto a little bit of femininity in your tween or teen's bedroom.



Purple is the color of royalty, purple is luxurious, purple, when used right, is sophisticated and purple can make a wonderfully understated room look amazing.  



Purple is a unique color, being an almost equal combination of both a warm and a cool color (red and blue), it can be combined with either warm or cool colors, or both, or used on its own in a room and still look lovely.  And purple has enough sophistication that it is not only great for a baby's room, but it can make a fun, whimsical and sophisticated tween or teen room.

I love the look of this purple room.  The shag rug and pillows keep the room feeling young and would be the perfect place for your tweens/teens to have gab sessions after school.

Wednesdays - What Color is That??

Dancing Green, Grounded and In the Pink are all Sherwin-Williams paint colors used in this tween girls bedroom. Sue Ritzman with Rooms With Attitude (perfect name - these rooms sure have attitude) designed this sassy striped and polka dotted bedroom. The colors remind me of ice cream flavors.
