Vintage is trendy everywhere. How about a simple clean lines look for a vintage teen room? The items on the black shelf seem to be floating on the painted black shelf (against the painted black wall).  Image from here.

Cubes and crates stacked create a simple storage solution. Crates should be secured to the wall with Velcro or screws.

Loving the black and white striped rug.

The maps posted on the wall have "pockets" to hold magazines. Artwork hung above the desk is simple with bold graphics. Image from here.

Simple Modern Bedding: the orange and red colored bedding is made of clean, simple graphic details. I really like the large bubbles. Image from here.

Antler art against a black chalkboard wall.  Great idea - to write down baby's first words - precious. Image from here.

Three Kids In A Room?? Try A Trio of Hanging Beds...

Such a cool, contemporary room for three boys'.  Not only do these beds look good, but they also save space and are practical.  The beds hang from the wall and ceiling with thick rope from metal hooks and are also bolted into the wall. Marian and her hubby spent a bit of time building, creating and painting this incredible room. Wall color: Creek Bend by Behr. Poster: Kideko. Bed linens from IKEA. Poster found here.

Marian explains the inspiration for the room:

"After close to a year of looking for bunkbeds, and lots of brainstorming about built-ins, I saw Ana White's hanging daybed. I loved the rustic look and simplicity of the project. Knowing that the beds would take up a lot of space, I wanted to keep the rest of the room simple. I love the combination of modern and vintage, so I tried to have a bit of both in their room. The boys are all so different and have varying interests, it would have been hard to pull of a "themed" room. The colors evolved from the Kideko poster... all three of them rock! I wanted to give them a space that was fun and inviting, and a space that would grow with them." Images and info found via here.

Creative Decorating Ideas - Teen Boys Room

Decorating a boy's room takes a little creativity and that's exactly what Style on a Shoestring does best! What I love about both of these boys' rooms - is the simple, creative techniques that were used to give them more pizazz. The bold stripe with the large metallic initial makes a strong statement - yet is relatively inexpensive. The graffiti name painted above the bed really makes this room pop. Bright, bold striped bedspread is perfect for a teen and the skateboard accents help give the room a teen flair.

What can I say ... this isn't a teen room, but I just love this idea of the white with black trimmed fabric draping. I wonder how difficult this would be to create this look for one accent wall?
