Baby Shower Love

I'm in baby shower love! This sweet, adorable baby shower is over-the-top in styling, colors, food, activities and decor! Yes, I'm in love! Kate from And Everything Sweet teamed up with her friends to create a bird themed shower complete with birds, bird nests, bird cages and everything needed to "feather her nest".

The colors are stunning! If you would like to know how to make the pom pom tissue flowers shown, here's a tutorial.

The birds are edible! They're sugar cookies with marshmallow fondant frosting on top.

Too cute!

Love this...guests make hairbows for the baby using fabric and ribbon scraps.

Baby Shower or Party Idea: Wrapped Vase Centerpiece

Thank you to Toni for asking me to guest post on Design Dazzle. I throw quite a few parties over at Frog Prince Paperie (www.frogprincepaperie.com) and I’m always excited to be able to share some of the things I’ve learned.

When I’m designing dessert tables or tablescapes, I have a prop closet full of basic vases and such that I use. The vases don’t always fit exactly what I’m doing, so I have to make them match with a little creative engineering and one of my favorite ways to do this is to make wrapped vases.

Materials:

-    Vase

-    Cardstock

-    Patterned paper

-    Ribbon

-    Edge puncher

Vases come in all shapes and sizes, so I’m going to give the method I used for this particular project—you can adjust for the vase you choose!

Cut the cardstock 1 inch shorter than the height of your vase. Make sure your paper is long enough to wrap all the way around your vase; if you have to, tape 2 pieces of paper together to get the right length. I recommend cardstock for the first layer, as it tends to stand up to the edge puncher a bit better.

Punch the edge of the paper using a scrapbook edge punch. I love the
Martha Stewart line, but there are all kinds of beautiful punches available at
the craft store!

Cut the patterned paper 2 inches shorter than the height of
your vase, or short enough that your punch can peek over the top.

Wrap your vase first with the punched paper and tape in place, then with
the patterned paper.

Tie a length of ribbon around the papers to finish! I used a
1.5 inch double faced satin for my finished product, but a grosgrain or polka
dot or something else fun would have worked great as well!
When I filled this vase with flowers, I picked up
inexpensive carnations from the grocery store that coordinated with my pink
paper and a piece of floral foam to get them to stay in place.
This concept can be used in any number of paper/ribbon
combinations. I also like to punch the bottom edge of my papers when I have
taller vases for a really lacy and feminine look.
Hope this adds one more creative piece to your repertoire!

Camping Theme Baby Shower

What a clever idea...a camping theme baby shower. All the little details make a rustic themed party such as - pine cone garland,  flannel napkins, acorns atop the napkin, s'mores, small pine tree and camping lanterns.

 It's all in the details.

 Simple props!

Using Ombre in Design

There's something magical about blending colors together to create a soft and romantic effect. This violet colored ombre cake by Maggie Austin Cake is simply dreamy. Definitely wear this Versace ombre gown while serving that cake ;) Arrange floral centerpieces in graduating tones like in this stunning arrangement by Martha Stewart Weddings and this cake by Cake Couquette, with tones growing darker in a sweet progression. This dramatic floral cake by Superfine Bakery has a different color tone on each of its layers- sooo pretty and garden-like! Love this look by Pottery Barn (via SMP). Use separate vases for each color and arrange them in ascending gradient order. Using ombre in your party design and home decor makes a sophisticated statement and radiates good taste.

Sweet And Charming Baby Shower on a Budget!

What I so LOVE about this baby shower... is it was done on a budget but doesn't look like it one bit! Heather Annette of Heather Annette Photography created this charming shabby chic, vintage party for her friend, Kristi. As Heather says,  "I had so much fun making all the decorations! It was SUPER inexpensive and easy! You gotta be creative when you're a poor, newlywed!"  Use what you have at home to help decorate for an event. Beg borrow and steal ; ) items from family and friends to help create a darling party without the large expense.

I've always enjoyed this fun baby shower game "Guess Who". Each guest brings a picture of themselves as a baby, number the photo and have guests figure out who is who. Cute idea to hang pictures on a clothes line with clothes pins!

Check out Heather's blog for more images of this inexpensive baby shower (but outrageously cute baby shower)! She also has incredible photography skills.
