Hot Pink And Black Zebra Bedroom!

Lexie and her mom, Cheryl Lytle designed this fun hot pink and zebra print room that expresses creative teen style! What a fabulous, beautiful room any teen would want! 



What gave you the idea for the room? Anything special that inspired you? Actually, my daughter and finances dictated the room.  She wanted her room to be hot pink and black and wanted a Zebra comforter.  Originally I looked at furniture from PB Teen and then just couldn’t justify the expense.  So, I took her to Ikea and we found lots of cool furniture and accessories.  I guess you would say my daughter’s personality was my inspiration.  This room fits her perfectly.

What is the wall paint color? Any do-it-yourself projects? The wall paint colors are Tutti Frutti Behr S-G 100 (in the Saturated color deck) and Disney’s Mouse Ears by Behr.  No, there aren’t any real do-it-yourself projects, other than picking out the cabinetry and customizing them/building them to fit our needs. 

 Please share any bedding, art, furniture finds? What's your favorite purchase?  Any interesting facts our readers would want to know? The bedding came from WakeupFrankie.com, the Zebra print art came from Ikea, all the furniture came from Ikea, pink pillows, throw blanket and boxes came from Target, boards over her desk came from Walmart.  I actually have a few favorites in the room.  The cabinet doors that are also frames, where we enlarged her favorite photos in black and white, with the light above spotlighting them.  The curtain wire that hangs her favorite photos across the bulkhead.  And the dressing area.  The dressing area is my absolute favorite because I created it completely.  I didn’t see it somewhere and copy it, nothing inspired it, I just created it and I love how it turned out.  It has lights above that she can turn on, three full length mirrors that she can position where she needs them, and the bench with storage for her accessories (hats, scarves, belts, etc) and jewelry.  Interesting facts:  Hot pink is like red.  It took one coat of gray primer and three coats of the pink to get it to cover evenly.  Also, don’t be afraid to use black on the walls when you have lots of white furniture or accessories to put on them.
