Before and After - Ugly to Beautiful

Last weeks post I featured a charming vintage room designed by Raissa. I mentioned I would be posting before and after photos of the furniture she painted. Well - here are the photos with impressive results! It's amazing what you can do with ugly furniture to make it beautiful!

Raissa: The furniture was purchased as a set on craigslist for $75. It was mahogany beyond repair. I primed it, painted it white, rubbed on the Sherwin Williams Cay (paint color), let that dry, then sanded it, then dry brushed some more of the blue... the pulls were metal which I spray painted white and sanded. Wednesdays - What Color is That??

vintage decorating girls bedroomStyle-savvy and absolutely charming are just a couple of words I would use to describe Marisa's bedroom. Raissa Mosher designed and decorated this sweet room for her (lucky) daughter Marisa. Benjamin Moore Deco Rose #1328 is the raspberry wall color with Sherwin Williams Pure White #7005 as the brilliant white wall color. The mahogany furniture was purchased as a set off of craigslist and painted the perfect blue paint color which is Sherwin Williams Cay #6772. Purchased at a yard sale was the gold vanity chair (love those kind of purchases). Raissa sprayed it white, recovered the seat and finished it with the same ruffle trim as the sconce shades. I love the random pieces of furniture that pull this room together!
Raissa: "My husband/all around handy guy added crown molding and beautiful window trim. I made the dark blue rouched pillow as well as glued the flowers onto the white pillow. The artwork was a major inspiration for the room and was chosen by my daughter at etsy.com. The eyelet coverlet belonged to her grandmother as well as the milkglass which we carried over from her previous room. The mix of vintage and modern is what I love the most!"
Next week I'll feature before and after photos of the furniture Raisa painted. It's very impressive to see ugly furniture with great lines revitalized to absolute beauty:) To view more photos of this room.
