Classic Big Boy Room

Seersucker blue and white striped fabric with yellow room accents make this a classic boys room. Sarah from Jack and Izzy created this sweet bedroom for her little boy who needed a "big boy" room. The memo boards are a perfect spot for art and photos. Expedit shelving from IKEA fits perfectly under the memo boards.

Sarah says, "I scored these vintage pantry storage jars from Etsy, and I spray painted the lids yellow to match the room. They're great for holding smaller toys like Jack's animals and puzzle pieces. "

Sarah says, "Jack's bedding was my ONE splurge in our budget. It's from Serena and Lily, and I think it just makes the space. I wanted a sweet looking duvet cover that was still boyish but not "themey" (like trains or robots or something). I LOVE this one because Jack will be able to use it well into his school years. Oh, and the headboard was a $25 find from Craigslist."

Check out Jack and Izzy for more rooms photos and information.

Cow Poke Room

cowboy bedroomLet your imagination run wild...wild, wild west that is with this sensational western bedroom by Baldwin Homes. Take a trip back in time with the rugged bed frame, heirloom looking quilt and faux cowhide pillow shams and fringed valance. I love the little leather chairs and old fashioned luggage trunks. The "Cow Poke" shelving unit is a fun and unique piece adding color and whimsy to the room. I love the way the stars have been captured by the lasso rope.

Cool Basketball Bedroom!

Mother Nursery designs kids rooms and they are talented designers! Kids can actually dribble the ball and shoot for the basket in this basketball bedroom. Here's the scoop from Mother Nursery: "The wall facing the basketball key has a functioning miniature basketball hoop and is outfitted with actual gym wall padding that showcases the boy's middle name. A locker room bench is affixed to the floor under the window which runs horizontal to the basketball key, much of what you would see in a high school gym as the players bench. On top of the window in the center of the wall is the child's logo, a bulldog, the logo is the first thing you see upon entering the room. On each side of the window are custom banners of basketball championships. The bedding used in this environment was from Pottery Barn Teen, it was part of their NBA Bedding Collection. On the wall above the top bunk is a scoreboard that was hand painted with chalk board paint in order to keep score of all future basketball games taking place in this room. A basketball wall mount is fixed to the same wall by the foot of the bunk bed to house all the basketballs used to play either during practice or game time. On the opposite wall; a set of two full size black lockers were added to for extra shelving and/or storage. An American flag hangs next to the closet door. What gym isn't complete without tribute to our country? Over the closet door and bathroom door, hand painted signs were painted as the home team locker room and visitor's team locker room."

Wednesdays - What Color is That??

Who said a boy's room has to be boring? This complementary classic room is anything but boring! Amy Thomas designed this room for her three year old son. She didn't want a theme room - so she chose opposite colors on the color wheel and it worked beautifully! A complementary scheme pairs two colors opposite each other on the color wheel; for example, red and green - as Amy chose in this room. Homestead Resort Moss (ultra premium) by Valspar Paint is the color choice on the walls. Valspar paint can be purchased at Lowes. Love the white drapes against the moss green wall.
