Designing Kids Rooms Using the Color Wheel: Analogous Schemes

In my last post on this topic, we explored using complimentary colors, (colors across from each other on the color wheel), to design kids rooms. Today I am going to talk about using analagous color schemes.
Analogous colors are colors that are adjacent to each other on the color wheel.

Some examples are:

Analogous color schemes are often found in nature and are very pleasing to the eye. The combination of these colors gives a bright and playful mood. When using the analogous color scheme, try to make sure that one color is dominant.
In this room, by designer Robyn Karp, the bright pink walls are a vibrant backdrop
to the soft pink bedding. Orange and yellow are brought in and add to the bold color scheme.
While this room has white walls, the bright pink, orange and yellow
accents make the room feel bright and colorful.
Sitting next to each other on the color wheel, purple and pink look great together, and are
a popular combination for girls rooms. (source)
The softest shades of blue mix beautifully with subtle greens to make this
room by designer Palmer Weiss soothing and sophisticated.
In this nursery, Holly created a gorgeous space by keeping the palette limited
to white and various shades of blue and blue-green.
In this adorable room, designer Amanda Nisbet uses green and yellow to add charm and whimsy.
This fun room is vibrant and coloful, thanks to the lime green, mixed with white and
several shades of blue.
Analagous color schemes where grey or brown is added to the main color can be perfect for boys.
This boys retreat, found here, gets a sophisticated feel due to it's deep grey-blues
mixed with forest green.
